Audi A3  Setting off  e-tron  Plug-in hybrid drive
You can choose between one electric mode and three hybrid modes:
Electric mode (EV mode)
The EV mode is active at the beginning of every journey, depending on the vehicle's operating mode. The LED in the button will light up. The indicator lamp will also light up in the instrument cluster display. The combustion engine will remain switched off if ambient and battery conditions permit.
You can drive on electric power alone up to a speed of about 130 km/h.
Hybrid modes
The electric motor and the combustion engine work together efficiently in all hybrid modes.
Hybrid Auto: Battery power is used whenever possible when this mode is selected. This mode is particularly suitable for long journeys.
Hybrid Hold: The charge level of the high-voltage battery is preserved as much as possible.
Hybrid Charge: The high-voltage battery is charged (if its charge level permits). This results in increased fuel consumption.
Note
  • Applies to Hybrid Hold and Hybrid Charge: The charge level of the battery can drop, depending on how the vehicle is driven.
  • Hybrid Hold mode is automatically selected if you move the selector lever to position S in EV mode. You can switch back to EV mode by pressing the  button Link.
  • If the button Link is pressed when the selector lever is in position S, the gearbox automatically selects the standard drive mode (D).
