Audi A4   Controls   Seats and storage  Head restraints
Before carrying passengers on the rear seats, pull the head restraints on the occupied seats up at least one notch (on saloon models) or all the way up (on Avant/allroad models) WARNING!.
Adjusting head restraints
To raise the head restraint, take hold of it on both sides and move it up until you feel it click into place at the desired position.
To lower the head restraint, press button -A- Fig. 1 and slide the head restraint downwards.
Removing head restraints1)
Fold down the backrest Link.
Push the head restraint upwards as far as it will go.
Press the release point -B- Fig. 2 with the emergency key Link and press the button -A-. At the same time, pull the head restraint out of the backrest WARNING!.
Installing head restraints
Push the posts of the head restraint into the guides until you feel them click into place.
Press the button -A- and push the head restraint all the way down. It should no longer be possible to pull the head restraint out of the backrest.
You can adjust the side cushions of the head restraints (comfort version*) individually by pulling/pushing.
WARNING!
  • Please observe the safety warnings Link.
  • Remove the rear head restraints only if this is necessary in order to attach a child seat Link. Install the head restraint again immediately after removing the child seat. Travelling with the head restraints removed or not raised increases the risk of severe injuries.
1) The rear head restraints cannot be removed on vehicles with fixed backrest.
